Dan Lowrie

Dan Lowrie is a key advisor on the development of Fitness Forward’s business strategy. By joining Fitness Forward, Dan hopes to bring the benefits and joys of a healthy lifestyle to all.

Dan graduated summa cum laude from Duke University with a BSE in Electrical Engineering and Economics. Dan was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Tau Beta Pi, and was selected as a Thomas J. Watson scholar and a National Academy of Nuclear Training Fellow

Dan currently works for Mercer Management Consulting, a leading global consulting firm. Dan has developed strategic business insight from his work with a wide variety of clients. Dan’s experience includes:

-For a global airline, leading the financial analysis of a $150MM contract for spare parts between a top global airline and one of its major suppliers. In separate work, Dan identified $350MM in aircraft-related savings opportunity, and developing the strategy and financial analysis for negotiations that led to over $10MM in yearly savings

-For a regional supermarket, designing and conducting a 4,000-respondent survey to determine the components of grocery store quality. Dan analyzed the results to identify improvement opportunities, modeled the economics of potential solutions, and made recommendations that will lead to $100MM in sales growth

-For a financial services company, creating multiple acquisition strategies. Dan identified service-offering gaps, evaluated acquisitions for their role in the company’s portfolio strategy, and performed due diligence on high-priority candidates. Dan’s work led directly to three offers for acquisitions, and his work served as a basis for further analysis that did lead to a $500M acquisition for the company.

Dan also gained first-hand experience with the difficulties of pediatric obesity in his work with a leading global Quick Service Restaurant. Dan worked with their U.S. executive team to identify methods by which success could be measured, including not only traditional sales and profit metrics, but also non-traditional customer satisfaction and community involvement measures. Dan hopes to bring some of his insight into the corporate participants in the health community to Fitness Forward’s non-adversarial approach to business collaboration.
Dan currently loves to run and bicycle. Before discovering the therapeutic benefits of a long trail run, Dan captained his high-school lacrosse team to a state championship, his college club lacrosse team to back-to-back undefeated seasons, and recently returned to help coach his high-school to its eighth lacrosse state championship in eleven years. Dan also enjoys reading, crossword puzzles, and he is a huge Duke basketball fan.
